Quantum adds sixth Canadian ITAD facility

Canadian ITAD company Quantum Lifecycle Partners opened a sixth ITAD facility, which will provide lifecycle management to the Alberta area.

The 7,800-square-foot facility is located in the Edmonton area and is the company’s second in Alberta. Operations started Feb. 1 and complement Quantum’s e-scrap recycling facility that’s located at the city of Edmonton’s Waste Management Facility.

Quantum has a total of 11 Canadian locations doing both ITAD and recycling work: it also has a Calgary, Alberta facility and others in the Ontario cities of Barrie, Brampton, Ottawa and Toronto; Montreal, Quebec; and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Gary Diamond, Quantum Lifecycle Partners president, stated in a press release that the “new ITAD facility aims to provide a complete lifecycle management service for electronics and I.T. hardware to our existing and new customers.”

In 2022, Quantum Lifecycle Partners recycled 83.6 million pounds of e-scrap and reused 410,000 assets and components. Its goal for 2023 was to reuse 500,000 electronics assets and components and recycle 80 million pounds of commodities, a boost of 22% for reuse and a 4% decrease in commodities recovery, its 2022 impact report noted.

The company, which includes a facility in Costa Rica, was formed in 2019 by a merger of Shift Recycling and Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP). It’s owned by two groups of shareholders, Combined Metal Industries and Giampaolo Group.

In 2022, it acquired Ontario companies REfficient, which specializes in telecom equipment reuse, and TechReset, an ITAD services provider.
