In President Trump’s proposed fiscal year 2018 budget, EPA funding is cut by one-third. This would result in the elimination of over 50 programs, including the Sustainable Materials Management program and the Waste Reduction Model.


The national average price of post-consumer PET beverage bottles has been rising steadily since January. On Jan. 3, the national average price was 10.8 cents per pound and has moved up 39.8 percent to the current 15.1 cents per pound.
Since 1978, the National Recycling Coalition (NRC) has been evolving and working to meet the needs of those engaged in recycling activities. Over those 38 years, NRC has advanced many issues and programs, such as organizing the National Recycling Congress, hosting many working task forces, and working with Congress on legislative initiatives and the White House on executive orders.
This is the first in a series of four articles that will discuss three codependent variables that must be addressed as part of any attempt to capture food waste from residential, institutional or commercial settings.
