PetroChem Wire: Recycled nylon prices fall as force majeure’s impacts fade

PetroChem Wire: Recycled HDPE prices fall

Nylon 66 repro and regrind prices fell last week as a force majeure’s influence on the feedstocks ADN and HMD dissipated.

Nylon 66 PI black repro was discussed at 65 to 68 cents per pound FOB East Coast and flake (unfilled) at 45 to 47 cents per pound, both down 3 cents per pound.

The force majeure, at Invista’s nylon 66 intermediates plant in Victoria, Texas continues. It was declared in June due to a “chemical process issue,” the company said. But since Invista’s production was interrupted, replacement ADN and HMD has been sourced, allowing U.S. nylon plants to maintain planned production levels and recycled nylon supply to return to normal.
