Wide world of plastics recycling: June 22, 2016

Wide world of plastics recycling: Jan. 12, 2016

Some plastics recycling professionals supported the U.K. remaining in the European Union, and Ireland could create lots of jobs by recycling at home.

United Kingdom: A solid majority of plastic recycling professionals attending a conference in the U.K. signaled their support for the country remaining in the European Union. According to the nonprofit group Recycling of Used Plastics Limited (RECOUP), 65 percent of professionals at the group’s Plastics Recycling Expo indicated they’re opposed to a “Brexit.” Voters in the U.K. will weigh in on the question Thursday.

Ireland: If the country exported less recyclable material, including plastic, and recycled more at home, it could potentially create 1,000 jobs. The Business Post reports about half of the collected plastics are exported to other countries for recycling.
