Equipment Spotlight: Material blenders help processors meet PCR demands
The Maquire WSB 1200 can achieve throughput of up to 4,500 pounds per hour.

Maguire Products has introduced a series of gravimetric blenders tailored for large-throughput applications.

The Maguire Weigh Scale Blender 1200 Series can achieve throughput of up to 4,500 pounds per hour and can be used in extrusion, high-volume injection and blow molding, and central blending applications, the company stated in a release.

The 1200 series can dispense 12 batch ingredients including pellets, powders, liquids, regrind, flake, wood flour and talc filler.

“By providing the same capability as the 2400 and 3000 Series units for dispensing up to six large-component ingredients, the WSB-1200 Series blenders enable processors working in a somewhat smaller throughput range to meet growing demand for products that incorporate regrind and [post-consumer resin] along with virgin resin,” said Frank Kavanagh, vice president of marketing and sales, in the release.

All 1200 series blenders can be fitted with up to six large-component slide gates allowing dispensing of major ingredients, according to the company. The blenders can use a combination of large corner valves, 4-inch vertical valves, 2-inch vertical valves, auger feeders and liquid color pumps.

The Weigh Scale Blenders achieve accuracy down to plus or minus 0.1% for every material regardless of form, according to Maguire.

The series was introduced worldwide in February.
