Loudon County, Virginia, has begun construction of the new Lovettsville Recycling Drop-off Center, with expanded options for recycling glass bottles and jars.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is accepting applications for multiple seats on the Packaging EPR Advisory Board, through Sept. 15.

Recycle Utah unveiled preliminary renderings for its future recycling and sustainability hub for Summit County.

The organization worked throughout the spring and early summer to gather feedback from residents, which directly informed the design and priorities reflected in the renderings. Results of a survey conducted by Recycle Utah emphasized the importance of community input in shaping the project.

Recycling startup Clear Drop won a Red Dot award for its Soft Plastic Compactor and is conducting a pilot at the University of Pittsburgh.

HM Revenue & Customs published guidance for using mass balance accounting for chemically recycled plastics under the UK’s Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT), required after April 1, 2027.

Omaha-based EPS packager Plastilite is supporting a lawsuit filed by 17 state attorneys general to challenge California’s SB 54, saying the law cost the company its biggest customer.

Researchers at Virginia Tech developed a process to convert PVC into polyalphaolefin, a key component in lubricants such as engine oil.

The group’s research was published in the journal Nature. The idea for the process started with the team’s earlier work converting other types of plastic waste into surfactants used in soap and detergents. When that proved successful, researchers turned their attention to PVC.

Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs on US imports, including molds and plastic products.

German materials science firm Envalior and chemical recycler Secara signed an MOU to recycle nylon 6 (polyamide 6) from end-of-life vehicles.

RCS Group broke ground for a €75 million recycling plant in Werne, Germany, to process HDPE cap closures, PS, PET trays, and beverage bottles.

Recupac partnered with Lindner Washtech to expand its Chilean LDPE recycling capacity.

Recupac, the waste management division of the Coipsa Group, opened a new LDPE recycling facility in San Bernardo, Chile, with a production capacity of 500 mt/month.

Recycled pellets already replace approximately 40% of the virgin resin used in new plastic film production.

Sumika Polymer Compounds Europe, a subsidiary of Japanese Sumitomo Chemical, is expanding its French PP mechanical recycling capacity ahead of mandatory PCR content in automobiles.
