CP Group has purchased a majority stake in London-based Recycleye, combining the North American MRF equipment manufacturer with the European AI-vision sorting company.
The acquisition extends a commercial relationship the two companies began in 2023, when CPG’s optical sorting division began selling Recycleye’s Vivid-AI sorter, an AI system paired with air ejection rather than mechanical arms, in North American markets. The two companies have completed more than 23 live installations together in the US and Europe since then.
Terry Schneider, CP Group CEO, commented on the deal, saying, “The combined organization accelerates AI-enabled sorting and plant control across the full MRF – delivering the performance and purity levels that define the next generation of material recovery.”
The deal formalizes the relationship and positions San Diego-based CPG to offer MRF operators to process materials to a higher purity, real-time material composition data, AI-assisted residue recovery at the tail end of sorting lines and around-the-clock technical support from Recycleye’s UK engineering team.
“This acquisition creates a significant opportunity for both companies and our customers. By combining near-infrared technology with advanced AI, we can deliver higher-quality sorting solutions to the market,” said Victor Dewulf, Recycleye CEO.
He added, “CPG’s industry expertise will accelerate our growth, supported by Recycleye’s multidisciplinary engineering team working toward the shared goal of extracting value from all waste.”
Recycleye’s full team and leadership will remain in place following the transaction. CPG and Recycleye will collaborate on sales across the US and Europe while keeping separate divisional operations for each regional market, a structure that gives CPG what it says is the largest deployed fleet of AI-only optical sorters in Europe.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
