News from DSNY, SERDC and more

Two industry experts from Busch Systems and Keep America Beautiful wrote a three-part series exploring research on how bin and signage design influence recycling behaviors.

Jessica Tisch, former head of New York City’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, has been appointed the next sanitation commissioner for the City of New York Department of Sanitation (DSNY).

After the world’s third-largest shipping company CMA CGM said in February it would no longer carry “plastic waste” onboard its ships as of June 1, it now announced the effective date was April 15.

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), SWANA’s New Jersey and New York State chapters, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regional office in New York signed a regional alliance agreement to help protect workers from health and safety hazards in the solid waste industry.

The Southeast Recycling Development Council (SERDC) will hold a webinar series on the National Recycling Strategy’s five objectives and showcase best practices and initiatives.
