  • Michigan’s waste management overhaul taking effect

Michigan is rolling out big changes to its solid waste management laws, taking a slow and steady approach to a complicated modernization process.

  • Flexible film recycling pilot launches in Canada

A number of circularity organizations have collaborated to launch PRFLEX, an effort to improve flexible plastic recycling in Canada.

  • Women in Circularity: Melissa Young

A warm welcome back to “Women in Circularity,” where we shine a light on women moving us toward a circular economy. This month, I connected with an environmental professional who specializes in reimagining solutions for materials management: Melissa Young. Melissa is the director of Resource Conservation Initiatives at the Syracuse University Center for Sustainable Community Solutions. The center provides capacity-building support to state and local governments, nonprofits and private sector firms that help improve environmental infrastructure. She has more than 15 years of experience in the circular economy.

  • NERC: Bale values showed small decline in Q1

Recyclables prices in the Northeast slipped slightly during the first quarter, according to a MRF survey.

  • The latest news on glass recycling

Private dollars have been flowing to glass recovery efforts, and California manufacturers consumed a little less cullet last year. Those were a couple of recent glass announcements.

  • Carton robot boosts capture, reduces MRF residue

A recently installed carton-sorting robot at FCC Environmental Services’ Dallas MRF has reduced residue by about 11%, one reason the unit is “going to have a pretty big financial impact for us,” a company manager said.
