In the latest chapter of its ongoing expanded polystyrene saga, New York City will again ban foam food-service packaging. City officials have determined it “cannot be recycled in a manner that is economically feasible or environmentally effective.”

David W McCaryThe City of San Antonio began accepting plastic bags in curbside single-stream carts two years ago. In its first year, 550 tons were recovered through the program, which excludes black plastic bags, but that number fell by more than two-thirds in the second year.
