Logitech works with iFixit to offer repair parts for mice

Logitech is the latest OEM to partner with iFixit to make spare parts and repair guides available for certain mice.

Starting this summer in the U.S., the iFixit Logitech Repair Hub will have genuine replacement parts and batteries for Logitech MX Master and MX Anywhere mouse models. The parts will be available both as standalone items or as parts of kits that include tools.

Over the past several years, Apple, Google and Samsung have also worked with iFixit on various initiatives.

A press release noted that iFixit has also been working with Logitech to improve product design to make repairs easier.

Prakash Arunkundrum, chief operating officer at Logitech, said in the press release that consumers “often struggle to find avenues to repair and extend the life of their product.”

“More can be done by brands and by broader value chains who wish to play an active role in the shift to a more circular economy,” Arunkundrum said. “I am excited that we are able to collaborate with iFixit to develop better designs and make it easier for consumers to have a self-repair option to extend the life of our products.”

Elizabeth Chamberlain, director of sustainability at iFixit, added that “to give a healthy planet to the next generation, we need to keep our things working for as long as possible, reduce our demand for raw materials and cut down the amount of e-waste we’re generating.”
