CalRecycle makes changes to its e-scrap management program, and why TV manufacturers should consider repair over replacement.
It’s official: California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has gotten final approval to raise the amount consumers pay when they buy new display devices. Consumers must now pay $5, $6 or $7, depending on screen size.
CRT rules: California has also readopted emergency rules regarding the disposal of CRT and CRT glass. The rules will be in effect for two years, or until the state comes up with a final, permanent plan for CRT disposal, whichever comes first.

Costs of repair: Many TV manufacturers chose not to repair devices, even when under warranty, reports encompass.com. But, the website makes a case as to why repairing the LCD and LED TVs is a more viable option.
