The national average price of post-consumer PET beverage bottles and jars dropped in August, now averaging 2.63 cents per pound, compared to 3.20 cents per pound this time last month. Most regional contracts are still trading in low ranges. One year ago this grade was trading at an average 5.75 cents per pound.
The national average price of curbside post-consumer natural HDPE dropped, from 52.75 cents per pound to the current 37.25 cents. The average price was 47.59 cents this time last year.
The national average price of color HDPE also dropped, from 11.06 cents last month, to 6.44 cents per pound. This compares to a low 2.56 cents one year ago.
The national average price of post-consumer PP is also down this month, from 11.88 cents to 6.50 cents per pound. By comparison, PP was 5.81 cents one year ago.
The national average price of A-grade film remains steady, at 13.19 cents per pound. This grade traded at 8.31 cents one year ago. B-grade film is up, from 3 cents to 4.5 cents per pound. C-grade film remains at a low -0.63 cents per pound.
The national average price for sorted, baled aluminum cans (UBCs) remains steady at 93.75 cents per pound. The average was 78.44 cents this time last year.
Sorted, baled steel cans also remain steady this month, at an average $198 per ton. Steel cans were averaging $158 per ton one year ago.
Sorted residential papers (PS 56) are up $5/ton, now in the $45-$50 per ton range. This compares to $52 per ton one year ago. Mixed paper (PS 54) is also up $5, at an average $30-35 per ton, compared to $32 per ton this time last year. Sorted office papers (PS 37) are also up $5, now averaging $141 per ton, compared to $128 per ton this time last year.
The national average price for OCC (PS 11) is up $5 per ton, now at an average $80-85 per ton. This compares to an average $67 per ton one year ago.
