GFL Environmental relocates HQ to Miami Beach

Canadian hauler GFL Environmental is relocating its headquarters to Miami Beach, Florida, a move reflecting the company’s growing operations in the Southeastern United States.

The environmental services company, which has operated from Vaughan, Ontario, for the past decade, announced the transition as part of efforts to increase its presence in US equity markets.

CEO and founder Patrick Dovigi said the decision was driven by company strategy to expand participation in US equity indices and “increase GFL’s visibility with investors and ultimately a wider shareholder base.”

“The United States has grown to represent over two thirds of our revenue, more than half of which is generated in the fast-growing Southeastern region,” Dovigi said in a statement.

GFL’s jurisdiction of incorporation will remain in Vaughan, Ontario, and the company’s shared services facilities in Ontario and Raleigh, North Carolina, will continue operations.

“The relocation aligns with our expanding presence in this attractive market and is expected to improve our ability to attract highly-skilled talent from the US labor pool,” Dovigi added.

In January 2025, the hauler divested its environmental services segment to the tune of $8 billion, retaining a $1.7 billion interest.

The new location aligns GFL in key growth markets while maintaining its operational infrastructure across North America.

This story is still developing.
