Nonprofit groups are now eligible to receive a recycling grant in Oregon, and Colorado helps fund transportation costs for material from public recycling bins.

Oregon: The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality announced the availability of $1.2 million for local projects aimed at solid waste and household hazardous waste. For the first time, nonprofit organizations will be eligible to receive the grants, which are awarded through the DEQ’s Materials Management Program.

Maryland: The Old Line State is offering $250,000 in grant money to counties and municipalities to help with their e-scrap collection and recycling programs, says Southern Maryland Online. The individual grants range from $5,000 to nearly $32,000.

Colorado: The state of Colorado will accept applications for funding to help offset the transportation costs involved when providing free public recycling drop-off sites. A total of $381,000 will be available through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
