Niagara Bottling bought the retail bottled water business of Michigan’s Absopure, and will invest several hundred million dollars in manufacturing infrastructure throughout the US.
The California-based company will invest in technology in the Midwest, Northeast, West Coast and Southwest, to continue modernizing its manufacturing footprint to use less energy, consume less packaging material and lower emissions, as well as keep jobs in the US, according to a statement.
The statement describes Absopure as “a family-built brand with deep roots, known and trusted by retailers and families alike. We are pleased to welcome them into the Niagara family and look forward to growing the brand for years to come.”
Last month, Niagara acquired rPlanet Earth assets in California, in a move toward vertical integration of its packaging operations.
Niagara Bottling is headquartered in Diamond Bar, California, and operates bottling facilities throughout the US, Mexico, Australia and the UK. The company produces beverages including water, sparkling, vitamin and flavored water, teas, sports drinks, ready-to-drink coffee, protein drinks and non-dairy milk products.
