A major producer of recycled HDPE lumber has rolled out a product with a seashell-inspired wood grain pattern.
Aurora, Ill.-based Tangent Technologies, which is a sister company to nationwide PET reclaimer Evergreen, recycles post-consumer HDPE into lumber products used in outdoor applications. The company recycles tens of millions of pounds of post-consumer and post-industrial material each year.
Tangent is owned by The Sterling Group, a Houston-based private equity firm that also owns Greenbridge, a PET strapping manufacturer, and Evergreen, a PET recycling company with plants in Riverside, Calif., Clyde, Ohio; Albany, N.Y. and Amberst, Nova Scotia.
After The Sterling Group acquired Tangent in 2019, Tangent acquired a competitor in the plastic lumber space, Bedford Technology, in 2020.
In the latest announcement, Tangent unveiled its “seashell” pattern of wood, its eighth patented dimensional wood grain option.
“Over the last several years we have worked very hard to create products which will move the overall appearance and visual element of plastic lumber closer to wood and consequently move the category forward,” Guy DeFeo, CEO and one of the founders of Tangent Technologies, stated in a press release.
