Packaging producer Cascades will purchase new thermoforming lines for products made with recycled PS and PET content, the company announced.
The Canada-based company will purchase equipment worth $3.4 million ($4.5 million Canadian) for two of its Quebec facilities: Plastiques Cascades plant in Kingsey Falls and Cascades Inopak plant in Drummondville.
At the Plastiques Cascades plant, Cascades spent $2.6 million to replace a thermoforming line, add a pre-padding solution to the production line and install automated packaging lines, according to aĀ press release. The facility makes PS food trays with 25 percent recycled content.
At the Cascades Inopak plant, Cascades spent $750,000 to install a new thermoforming line. That facility makes food packaging products and consumer goods made from PET with at least 60 percent post-consumer recycled content.
“These investments are part of a process of asset modernization at Cascades. They will boost our productivity while also allowing us to better meet our customers’ requirements and offer high-quality packaging,” said Luc Langevin, president and chief operating officer of Cascades’ Specialty Products Group.
