Baltimore County, Md., is working with Securis to expand its e-scrap recycling program.
According to a local news outlet, the partnership between the Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation and Securis will add CRT televisions, hard drives, flat-screen monitors, drones, smart devices, biometric devices, bathroom scales, heart monitors, power tools and electric scooters to the county’s list of accepted materials.
D’Andrea Walker, Department of Public Works and Transportation director, called the expansion “a robust leap forward in our recycling efforts.”
“We’re not just addressing the issue of conventional electronic waste; we’re staying ahead of the curve,” Walker said. “It’s about more than just managing today’s waste, it’s about anticipating and preparing for tomorrow’s challenges. This is how we create a sustainable, responsible future for Baltimore County.”
However, the city of Baltimore recently let its e-scrap recycling contracts lapse, according to a story from the Baltimore Banner, though a spokesperson said the disruption in service was temporary.
