The Biodegradable Products Institute opened registration for the 2025 BPI Summit, Sept. 16-18 in Atlanta.

Closed Loop Partners’ private equity group has acquired the organics waste management platform Agri-Cycle.

International Paper is closing several facilities in Georgia and laying off 1,100 workers.

Novolex is closing a former Pactiv Evergreen manufacturing facility in Bakersfield, California.

The Paperboard Packaging Alliance announced finalists in its annual Student Design Challenge, in which university students develop new approaches to paper-based packaging in response to real-world customer needs and marketing scenarios. 

In a recent earnings call, Sims Ltd. cited US acquisitions of Atlantic Recycling Group, Baltimore Scrap, Alumisource and Northeast Metal Traders for bringing in about 650,000 metric tons of material in fiscal 2025.

The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County, Alabama, has opened the state’s first Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM), offering residents a staffed convenience center for items not accepted via curbside recycling.

Sorting technology firm Tomra appointed Nicodemus Sherwood as its vice president of sales Americas and managing director of the Charlotte, North Carolina, office. 

Hauler WM announced that CFO Devina Rankin is planning to retire, and David Reed will succeed her.
