News from Plastic Ingenuity, Plastic Recycling Corporation of California and more

Business360 released a report examining efforts from consumer product goods companies such as Coca-Cola, Unilever and Colgate-Palmolive to meet their plastic reduction goals. 

CalRecycle posted a request for proposals for a source reduction and material design study connected to the state’s extended producer responsibility for packaging law, SB 54. Proposals are due in April.

Empire Green Generation, a company developing a plastics-to-fuel project in West Virginia, announced it closed on financing of up to $10 million to support the project.

Plastic Ingenuity released its latest Thermoform Circularity Report, which gives an overview of the challenges and opportunities ahead for thermoforms.

The Plastic Recycling Corporation of California rebranded to the PET Recycling Corporation of California, which the group said better reflects its mission and commitment to PET recycling.

The Recycling Education & Research Foundation is accepting nominees for the Peter J. Avagliano Award, which recognizes an early-to-mid career recycled materials facility employee who demonstrates leadership and commitment to the industry, through Feb. 28. 

Textile recycling firm Reju is partnering with Cibutex, a Netherlands-based industry cooperative of textile suppliers, to establish a circular textile ecosystem. 

Rumpke Waste and Recycling announced it set a record with 2024 revenues, topping nearly $1.2 billion and finishing the year as the country’s 10th-largest waste and recycling firm. 

South Korean conglomerate SK Group is in the early stages of developing a chemical recycling pilot plant in the U.S., using depolymerization to process hard-to-recycle products like plastic fishing nets, banners, carpets and spandex clothing.
