About 48% of Amazon shareholders voted to support a resolution filed by activist group As You Sow that called for the company to report the amount of plastic packaging it uses and commit to reductions. 

California agents broke up a suspected $10 million California-to-Arizona bottle and can recycling fraud scheme. 

Connecticut’s governor signed into law the nation’s first extended producer responsibility bill for fuel cylinders. 

Colorado’s Front Range Waste Diversion (FRWD) program is seeking proposals for the second phase of its Technical Assistance Service Provider (TASP) program, which helps local governments that want to establish or expand recycling programs. 

Machinex announced a major MRF upgrade at a Republic Services facility in Richmond, Calif. 

The PreCycle Innovation Challenge announced its winners: Origin Straws, Ground2Ground Glass, Just Right Bite, and Better Baby Bottles. 

The Solid Waste Association of North America hired four new employees: Natalie Garcia as technical division manager; Amanda Suntag as marketing and communications program manager; Kimberly Pittmon as database specialist; and Monique Hyatte as membership services coordinator. It also promoted two current employees: Estela Martinez to senior membership manager and Andre Owens to membership manager.

TerraCycle announced that outside auditors verified the company’s recycling operations and adherence to the Recycled Claim Standard. It comes after the company agreed to auditing as part of a legal settlement.
