E-Scrap Conference kicks off with one-mile second-line parade

Electronics recyclers, IT asset disposition specialists and circular-economy professionals opened the 2026 E-Scrap: The Longevity Conference with a classic New Orleans second-line parade Sunday evening, covering roughly one mile from the Hyatt Regency New Orleans lobby to Pat O’Brien’s in the French Quarter.

Participants gathered at 4:45 p.m. in the lobby of the host hotel at 601 Loyola Avenue. A brass band led the procession through downtown streets while New Orleans police provided an escort, clearing the way for the group as it moved toward Bourbon Street.

The marchers reached Pat O’Brien’s around 5:30 p.m., where they were greeted with the bar’s signature Hurricane drinks. The event window ran until 7 p.m., after which attendees were free to continue exploring the French Quarter for dinner and the evening’s entertainment before formal conference sessions began the next morning.

Conference organizers described the parade as a deliberate nod to local tradition and a practical networking icebreaker. In New Orleans, second-line parades—brass-band-led street processions in which participants follow and dance behind the musicians—are a longstanding form of celebration used for everything from community events to private gatherings.

Resource Recycling Inc., the conference organizer, secured the necessary permits so the industry group could experience the format firsthand as they walked from the hotel into the historic Quarter.

E-Scrap: The Longevity Conference runs October 26–28 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. It is the largest annual gathering in North America focused specifically on electronics recycling, repair, reuse and IT asset disposition.

Sessions and the exhibit hall address topics ranging from critical minerals recovery and battery safety to extended producer responsibility laws, design for circularity, data security and market trends. The event has historically drawn more than 1,000 attendees and more than 100 exhibitors, creating dense opportunities for deal-making and relationship-building among processors, ITAD firms, OEMs, policymakers and technology providers.
