News from Novolex, Repeats Group and more

Virgin Group, majority owner of airline Virgin Atlantic, and chemical conversion technology company Agilyx announced they will partner to develop plastic-to-fuel facilities. 

British supermarket chain Tesco announced a deal with Berry Global to recycle film scrap into bin liners. Tesco has collected 850 tons of plastic since August 2020 and plans to send 25 to 30 tons of material per month to Berry’s facility. 

Mobile device accessory company ZAGG will use Eastman’s Tritan Renew copolyester, which includes recycled content, in some protective smartphone cases. 

LyondellBasell and Greiner Packaging are producing Nescafé coffee capsules from CirculenRevive polymers, which are chemically recycled post-consumer material.

Apollo Global Management will be the new majority owner of plastic bag manufacturer Novolex after a purchase expected to close in the second quarter of 2022. Bloomberg is reporting the transaction is worth $6 billion.

Research group PreScouter published a report on recycling strategies for thermoset materials. 

European plastics recycler Repeats Group invested in Anviplas, a recycled LDPE producer in Spain.

Vecoplan opened an office and technology facility in Eastvale, Calif. called Vecoplan West. It will have sales and after-sales support offices, a distribution facility for spare and replacement parts and serve as a technology center for product trials.
