According to recent research from chemical and energy market research firm ICIS, there are roughly 270 mechanical plastics recycling operations in the U.S. today handling recovered PET, PE and PP. Those facilities have a total processing capacity of 6.6 million tons of input material annually, a number that includes both post-consumer and post-industrial.
