A Florida-headquartered global packaging company this month began selling a shrink film product made from 35% post-consumer resin and accepted in film drop-off collection programs.
Sarasota, Florida-based Intertape Polymer Group (IPG) on Feb. 12 announced the release of ExlFilmPlus PCR polyolefin shrink film, noting it contains at least 10% post-consumer resin and at least 25% post-industrial resin.
IPG says the film is “prequalified by How2Recycle for store drop-off and is approved for some direct food contact applications.” The company added the film is “available in gauges thinner than many traditional products,” offering “a material usage reduction of up to 9%.”
IPG became part of the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) Demand Champions program in 2020, committing to increase its use of post-consumer recycled content each year. The company also has a goal to make 75% of its products recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025 and 100% of them by 2030. As of 2022, 65% of its products met that criteria.
