Diving into a host of plastics recycling technologies

Modest gains seen in scrap plastic exports

Industry experts will take to the stage next month in New Orleans to discuss a host of topics touching on the technical side of plastics recycling.

At Plastics Recycling 2017, speakers will discuss ways materials recovery facilities (MRFs) can create cleaner bales for plastics reclaimers. That will be part of a concurrent session called “Sorting Through the Issues.” Speakers during the session will include Jerry Powell of Resource Recycling, Dylan de Thomas of The Recycling Partnership and Mike Centers of Titus MRF Services.

A different session will focus on advancements in melt-filtration systems. In “Melt Filtration Under a Microscope,” experts from several equipment companies will explore how their technologies can remove contaminants from plastics streams. Moderated by Sergio Firpo of Azure Technologies, speakers during the session include Sandy Guthrie of ADG Solutions, Clemens Kitzberger of Erema, Mike Diletti of Ettlinger, Paola Crea of Fimic and Monika Gneuss of Gneuss.

The conference will include a session designed and presented by Plastics Forming Enterprises (PFE), a full-service plastics testing and R&D company. Entitled “Connecting the Links of Plastics Recycling,” the session will follow reclaimed plastics from the wash line to the converter. Moderated by Kristi Hansen of PFE, the session will include presentations from her, Rob Flores of Berry Plastics, Domenic Di Mondo of GreenMantra Technologies and Sarah Dearman of Coca-Cola.

Plastics Recycling 2017 is set for March 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. The 2016 show drew 1,650 attendees from 40 countries, and the sold-out exhibit hall featured 200 industry businesses and groups. Head to plasticsrecycling.com to register and get all the latest info.
