Sadoff Iron and Metal Co. will pivot the focus at one of its facilities away from scrap metals and toward electronics recycling.
The company will restructure its business activities at its Oshkosh, Wis. location so that it focuses exclusively on e-scrap. The facility will no longer pay for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal after Dec. 21, but it will continue to receive used electronics.
A press release announcing the change noted the market for electronics recycling and data destruction service is growing.
The Oshkosh location has dismantling and shredding operations, as well as refurbishment activities, CEO Mark Lasky told E-Scrap News. The company’s locations in Oshkosh and La Vista, Neb., near Omaha, serve as the “beachhead” for the electronics recycling and data destruction business, Lasky said.
Sadoff E-Recycling & Data Destruction, a subsidiary of Sadoff Iron and Metal, is expecting to receive final confirmation of its R2 certification for both the Oshkosh and La Vista facilities soon. The company recently completed its registration audit with a positive result and is awaiting technical review, said Markus McDonell, Sadoff’s quality and management systems manager.
Certification came with the help of a $25,000 grant funded by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and awarded by the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC).
Sadoff Iron and Metal has been in the e-scrap business for more than five years. It has been in the recycling business for more than 70 years. The company has six locations in Wisconsin and three in Nebraska.
