PET bales from bottles and containers collected curbside were sold at 11 to 11.5 cents per pound FOB U.S. East Coast late last week, up 0.75 cents per pound due to tighter supply in some regional markets.
Meanwhile, bale prices were softer on the West Coast. California supply outstripped demand and Grade A bales were done at 14 cents per pound to just over 15 cents per pound FOB Long Beach, down half a penny per pound.
The market for prime PET is responding to higher feedstock costs and seasonal demand. Prime bottle grade material, sold on a delivered Midwest rail basis, was reported moving last week at 59 to 60 cents per pound versus roughly 55 cents per pound earlier in the month.
