An e-scrap recycling program in West Virginia gets support, and deadlines are approaching for those interested in federal funding for waste reduction.
E-scrap support: Cabell County, W.Va. received a grant from the state to support its e-scrap recycling program. The $3,678 grant will help the county continue its twice-a-year collection events.
Waste reduction grants: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program has grants available for communities interested in reducing the amount of solid waste that ends up in landfills. Applications are due Dec. 31.
Research grants: The Environmental Research and Education Foundation is accepting grant applications for solid waste research projects. Topics of research can include recycling, waste minimization and strategies to promote higher diversion rates. Pre-proposals are due Jan. 6.
$800,000 available: The New Mexico Environment Department is accepting applications for recycling, scrap tire and illegal dumping grants. Applications are due Jan. 13.
