The American Chemistry Council (ACC), American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) and Solid Waste Association of North America were among the groups that commented on a Feb. 2 U.S. Senate hearing on bills to improve recycling and composting programs.

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) decided stewardship group Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) did not achieve a 24% or greater recycling rate or meet requirements in its 2018-22 plan and has been referred to CalRecycle’s Waste Permitting, Compliance and Mitigation Division for potential enforcement.

Canadian not-for-profit producer responsibility organization Circular Materials appointed Allen Langdon as the organization’s first CEO. Langdon previously led British Columbia’s Return-It and Recycle BC organizations. 

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) announced the formation of its Brands Leadership Council and its inaugural members: Starbucks, Keurig Dr Pepper, McDonald’s, Unilever and Colgate-Palmolive. 

Paper products manufacturer Sustana announced Jeffrey Crawford as its vice president of sustainability.

TOMRA Recycling established a dedicated wood segment team, with a sales manager, industry experts, wood application specialists and service key account managers.
