Several workers were killed in an accident at a U.K. metals recycling operation, and Hong Kong beachgoers can’t find the sand through the trash.

U.K.: Five people were killed at a scrap metal recycling plant in Birmingham, a major city in central England. According to ABC News, the workers were killed when a wall collapsed. A sixth man was injured.

Hong Kong: Piles and piles of trash are making it hard to enjoy the beaches in Hong Kong. According to CNN, the amount of waste that is being found on the beaches this summer is six to 10 times more than average.

South Africa: A pilot program using reverse vending machines is underway in Johannesburg. The machines accept plastic bottles and tin cans and turn them into points for users. Users can redeem those points for things like bus or train tickets, reports IOL.

U.K.: A new study reveals the best and worst recyclers across the U.K. According to Business Waste, farmers are the best at recycling and office workers are the worst.
