The upward momentum in the prime polyethylene market was seen lending strength to recycled prices.

HDPE HMW drums repro sold last week at 43 cents per pound FOB southern U.S, but prices are expected to rise at least 2 cents and as much as 5 cents this week for several grades of recycled HDPE as April business gets underway.

Prime polyethylene prices were not well defined in the final days of March, with market players awaiting fresh orders for April shipment.

U.S. spot blow molding HDPE held at 54 cents per pound during the final days of March but moved up a penny on April 4. In the prime PE contract market, March increases of 5 cents per pound remained in place with some buyers and sellers indicating anticipation of a 4 cents per pound increase for April.
