An Upper Midwest company that handles e-scrap and hazardous waste has opened a new facility in the Minneapolis area.

Green Bay, Wis.-based Logistics Recycling Inc. (LRI) announced the opening of the 28,000-square-foot plant in Somerset, Wis., which is just over the state line from Minnesota and the Twin Cities area. The plant is expected to recycle about a half million pounds of electronics per year, comparable to what the Green Bay location did in 2020, according to a company spokesperson.

LRI provides recycling services for commercial, governmental and industrial customers, handling lamps, batteries and ballasts; electronics; medical/dental waste and products; hazardous wastes; and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)-related waste.

The spokesperson said the facility will handle a range of electronics, including mobile phones, computers, TVs and more. It will provide service to customers in the western third of Wisconsin, all of Minnesota and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

“We’re growing our dedicated team and expanding our facilities to advance the continuous improvement of our services and our operations,” Brent DuBois, the company’s president and CEO, stated in a press release. “Our new Minneapolis office helps us be better positioned to meet the needs of an evolving industry and customer base.”
