Iron Mountain has added ViaTeK Solutions, a Florida-based IT asset disposition (ITAD) and electronics recycling company, to its asset lifecycle management business.
ViaTeK announced the move on its website and on LinkedIn, stating that it had joined Iron Mountain and that its customers would now have access to the company’s broader services and global resources. “ViaTeK Solutions is now part of Iron Mountain,” the company stated.
Financial terms were not disclosed, and the announcement did not identify the transaction’s closing date.
Three decades in ITAD
Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Clearwater, Florida, ViaTeK provides ITAD, electronics recycling, data destruction and equipment remarketing services to corporate customers.
The company operates processing facilities in Clearwater, the Atlanta metropolitan area and Phoenix, serving customers throughout the continental United States.
Its operations include equipment collection, serialized asset tracking, secure data destruction and recovery of reusable equipment. ViaTeK holds R2v3 and ISO certifications covering its operations.
The company said existing customers would experience a seamless transition to Iron Mountain, although it did not provide details about potential changes to its facilities, workforce or management.
Another addition to Iron Mountain’s portfolio
The move continues Iron Mountain’s expansion in ITAD through acquisitions. In 2022, Iron Mountain acquired ITRenew, a company specializing in data center hardware recovery and remarketing. It subsequently added Regency Technologies, Premier Surplus and Wisetek, expanding its U.S. processing network and international operations.
ViaTeK brings an established customer base and additional processing capacity in three US markets.
The acquisition comes as Iron Mountain continues investing in its asset lifecycle management division, which handles retired enterprise technology, equipment recovery and disposition services.
Iron Mountain has identified acquisitions as part of its growth strategy for the division, targeting established operators that can extend its geographic coverage and processing capabilities.
The companies have not disclosed ViaTeK’s annual revenue or the financial contribution expected from the transaction. Details of the company’s integration into Iron Mountain’s existing operations were also unavailable.
