WasteExpo is set for June 28-30 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

After months apart, industry stakeholders this month have one of their first opportunities to gather in a conference setting at a three-day event in Las Vegas.

WasteExpo, billed as the largest solid waste, recycling and organics industry event in North America, will be one of the first live events held at the Las Vegas Convention Center since the COVID-19 pandemic forced events to go virtual last year.

It’s taking place June 28-30.

Launched more than 50 years ago, WasteExpo provides an exhibit hall, an education program and networking. Organizers say all that will be part of the schedule later this month, with special health and safety measures in place.

“We have an outstanding program planned and we are thrilled to bring our community back together in-person in Las Vegas this summer,” Marc Acampora, Waste360 Vice President, said in a statement. “Guided by a detailed set of measures known as AllSecure, WasteExpo aims to deliver the highest levels of hygiene and safety at the event. Our attendees, exhibitors and sponsors should feel confident that WasteExpo will be a safe environment.”

New this year will be the co-located conference, Waste360 Sustainability Talks. This one-day event is focused on the waste and recycling industry’s role in building a sustainable future. Topics will include  tackling the plastics crisis, textile waste, sustainable packaging, food-waste solutions and more.

Confirmed speakers include: Emily Broad Leib, Clinical Professor & Director, Food Law & Policy Clinic, Harvard Law School; Dave Ford, Co-Founder, Ocean Plastics Leadership Network; Susan Robinson Senior Director of Sustainability & Policy, Waste Management; Bryan Staley, CEO, Environmental Research & Education Foundation; Marisa Adler, Senior Consultant, Resource Recycling Systems; Ian Rosenberger, Founder and CEO of First Mile and Day Owl; Jonathan North, VP, Sustainable & Core Solutions, Rehrig Pacific; Ty Rhoad, Regional Director Americas, TOMRA Recycling; Nick Doyle, North America Recycling Area Sales Manager, TOMRA Recycling; and others.

“The Sustainability Talks platform is all about real talk and bold action,” WasteExpo organizers noted in a statement. “As the waste and recycling industry takes on the tsunami of plastics, packaging, textiles, food waste and other environmental challenges, we believe it is time to discuss our role in building a sustainable future.

“We are excited to tell the stories and share the solutions the industry needs to innovate and make the world a better place.”

The event will not have on-site registration this year, so interested attendees will need to register in advance.
