At last week’s ISRI2016 show, awards were given out to industry leaders at the twilight of their recycling careers as well as those who have yet to enter high school.
This year’s lifetime achievement awards went to two longtime metals recycling executives and Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries leaders. Stanton Moss, who founded brokerage firm Stanton A. Moss Inc. in 1973, and Emanuel Bodner, who recently retired as president of Bodner Metal & Iron Corporation, received the honor and gave spirited acceptance speeches during the conference’s opening general session.
Also honored during the session were the winners of the 2015-2016 Youth Video & Poster Contest: seventh-graders Eleanor Small and Megan Onello and eighth-grader Angelica Devers. The contest was aimed at exploring recycling beyond the curb and drew submissions from students all over the country.
ISRI also offered recognition to companies and individuals embracing industry best practices in safety. The group’s fourth annual Vehicle Safety Awards went to eight different companies.
Mark Withrow, meanwhile, of Cohen Recycling won ISRI’s Safe Driver of the Year Award.
