PetroChem Wire: Recycled nylon 66 prices steadily rising

Prices for nylon 66 pellets and flakes have been rising steadily as a force majeure at a Texas nylon 66 intermediates plant entered its fourth month and continued to tighten prime and off-grade nylon supply.

That market phenomenon has subsequently affected recycled nylon fiber in U.S. markets.

Last week nylon 66 post-industrial black repro was discussed at 77 to 79 cents per pound and nylon 66 PI unfilled black regrind at 57 to 59 cents per pound, FOB U.S. South, both up 2 cents per pound.

Invista declared force majeure on shipments of ADN and HMD from its Victoria, Texas plant on June 24. At that time, nylon 66 PI black repro was quoted at 64 to 65 cents per pound and nylon 66 black regrind at 44 to 47 cents per pound.
