News from Azek, Chroma Color and more

Chicago-based Azek will recycle vinyl from C&D debris in partnership with Bothell, Wash.-based DTG Recycle.

Chevron Phillips Chemical partnered with the Plastics Industry Association and the National Center for Asphalt Technology to use about 191,000 plastic bags to pave a 67,000-square-foot parking lot at Chevron Phillips Chemical’s facility in Port Arthur, Texas. 

Chroma Color’s near-infrared-sortable black technology passed the Association of Plastic Recyclers’ (APR) test protocol for NIR sorting, using a proprietary combination of specialty dyes and organic pigments.

Storage and home décor company iDesign will transition its core clear plastic offerings to post-consumer recycled plastic and transition all current plastic products to recycled plastic by 2025. 

Pittsburgh’s city council unanimously voted to ban single-use plastic bags, effective in 2023. 

Solvay partnered with Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials to recycle medical components made with Solvay’s Udel high-performance polysulfone. 

The Southeast Recycling Development Council (SERDC) will hold a webinar series on the National Recycling Strategy’s five objectives and showcase best practices and initiatives.

Two groups of researchers from the University of Liverpool and Cornell University have developed new ways to efficiently break down polystyrene into commodity chemicals.
