GFL Environmental has strengthened its foothold in the southern US market, acquiring Texas-based Frontier Waste Solutions in what marks the company’s eighth tuck-in deal since the start of 2026.
The transaction brings 24 facilities, a fleet of more than 650 vehicles and nearly 1,000 workers into the GFL fold. This bolsters the company’s position in the Texas Triangle, one of the fastest-growing population corridors in the US.
GFL Founder and CEO Patrick Dovigi said the acquisition does more than add scale. It sharpens the company’s competitive edge in a region where demand for waste services is accelerating.
“The favorable market dynamics in this region combined with deep expertise of the Frontier management team are expected to drive outsized revenue growth over the coming years,” Dovigi said.
The confidence of the deal extends to Frontier’s former shareholders, who converted $100 million in transaction proceeds into GFL shares. Dovigi noted that this is a signal of their conviction in the company’s future trajectory.
The Frontier deal adds to an active stretch of acquisition activity for GFL. The company has closed seven other deals across the US so far in 2026, with aggregate annualized revenue from those transactions expected to fall between $425 million and $450 million.
Dovigi said the momentum positions the company to revise its full-year outlook.
“With the transactions closed to date, we are positioned to meaningfully increase our guidance for 2026 when we report our first quarter results later this month,” he said.
The deal also comes as GFL settles into a new chapter geographically. The company, which operated out of Vaughan, Ontario for a decade, relocated its corporate headquarters to Miami Beach, Florida in January, a move aimed at deepening its profile in US equity markets.
