News from California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, Samsung and more

Ascend Elements signed a multiyear contract to supply $1 billion worth of recycled battery materials to an unnamed U.S. battery manufacturer. 

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery recommended maintaining the state electronics recycling fee at the current level of $4.00, $5.00 or $6.00 per device depending on screen size. 

The Guardian toured and profiled ERI’s Fresno, Calif. facility.  

Harsco, parent company of recycler Clean Earth, changed its name to Enviri.  

Modern Mining filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of 2 million common shares.

Samsung launched an e-scrap collection program in Kenya for its own products. 

TES received the 2023 Sustainability, Environmental, Achievement and Leadership (SEAL) Business Sustainability Award. 

Sunnking contributed hundreds of recycled cell phones to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History cell phone history exhibit.
