PetroChem Wire: Slight rise in rPET pellet prices
Jan. 9, 2014
Prices for rPET clear pellets rose half-a-cent at the very end of 2013 and were above 75 cents per pound as higher costs for prime PET filtered into the market.
Meanwhile, scrap bale prices fell 1 to 2 cents per pound in December to 14.5 to 15.5 cents per pound FOB U.S. East Coast due to greater availability. Robust generation this past summer and a weak export market, particularly to Asia, kept more rPET scrap in the U.S.
Although supplies of prime PET remained plentiful at the end of 2013, prices were up 0.5 cents per pound, reaching 77.5 to 78.5 cents per pound delivered due to higher feedstock costs.
