PetroChem Wire: Tight supply drives recycled PS higher

HIPS mixed color regrind was sold as high as 52 cents per pound FOB U.S. East Coast in the first half of February, up 4 cents per pound from January.

GPPS flake prices are also up an average of 3 cents per pound in early February, with mixed color material selling recently at 38 cents per pound delivered to Midwest plants, and some other business confirmed transactions completed at just a few cents under that level. In the pellet market, HIPS white sold so far in February at 73 cents per pound FOB, up 3 cents per pound from January.

In the prime polystyrene market, HIPS was steady in the first two weeks of February at $1.12, but was up 6 cents per pound in January.
