Sarasota, Florida’s SGM Magnetics Corp. was awarded Patent No. 8,627,961 for an eddy-current separator.
Patent No. 8,628,734 was given to OSRAM, based in Munich, Germany, for a method to recover rare earth materials from fluorescent lamps.
Daviero, Italy's Colombo Giovanni SRL was awarded Patent No. 8,632,026 for a mill and method for shredding various types of scrap materials.
A method for gathering toner in laser printer cartridges to aid recycling is the subject of Patent No. 8,644,727, which was awarded to a team of researchers led by Robert Vines from Horizon City, Texas.
Patent Application No. 20140001295 was given to Roseville, California's Garner Products, Inc. for a hard drive and media storage shredding device.
A group of researchers from Toyota-Shi, Japan led by Shuji Iida was awarded Patent Application No. 20140017621, which describes a method for recycling battery packs.
