U.S. consumer awareness about reuse and recycling programs for mobile phones is on the rise. According to a study conducted by Bamboo Mobile, 62 percent of the 1,200 study participants said they were aware of reuse and recycling programs and opportunities – up from 48 percent in 2012.

A ceramic tile company known for its innovative approach to using recycled materials has now set its sights on recycling and repurposing CRT glass. Fireclay Tile has already raised more than $12,000 through a Kickstarter campaign and will use the funds to purchase molds required to bring recycled CRT glass tiles to market.

Hugo Neu Recycling, an e-scrap recycling and asset management company based in Mount Vernon, New York, announced it is certified as a B Corporation. The classification is awarded to firms that "use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems," according to Hugo Neu. More than 850 companies, including Ben & Jerry's and Klean Kanteen, are certified B Corporations. According to the company, Hugo Neu is the first e-scrap business to achieve the certification.
