Full-service recycler Padnos Plastics Solutions announced it is opening a facility in Fremont, Indiana. The site is expected to create 22 jobs and be operational by next year. The company's primary location is in Holland, Michigan, and it was offered more than $100,000 in incentives from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to help fund the out-of-state expansion.

Voters in Durango, Colorado repealed a city ordinance that would have put a 10-cent fee on plastic shopping bags. The fee had been approved by Durango's City Council in August and had not yet gone into effect.

Coca-Cola's PlantBottle material, a PET plastic that is derived partly from organic material instead of petroleum, is now being used to create fabric for the interior of a Ford hybrid car. The fabric application in the Ford Fusion Energi marks the first time PlantBottle has been used outside the packaging realm. PlantBottle plastic has in recent years been used to create the bottles for Coke products in an increasing number of global markets.
