The EPS Industry Alliance, a group that seeks to help consumer recycle expanded polystyrene, has introduced a new tool on its website that helps consumers and businesses locate a facility where they can drop off the material. The EPS Reuse and Recycling Map uses a Google map that is designed to be intuitive and easy to use.

The Society of the Plastics Industry's Bioplastics Council has released a position paper, updating the group's stance on degradable additives in plastics. The Bioplastics Council is skeptical of claims made by additive manufacturers, saying such claims must be backed by third-party testing and verification.

The Coca-Cola Foundation and Keep America Beautiful have announced a new call for applications for the 2013 bin-grant program. Through a $300,000 annual grant, the program is designed to expand the availability of recycling bins at communities across the country and since 2010, has installed 29,000 bins for over 300 organizations.

Plastics recycling costs too much, according to a solid waste supervisor for Asotin County, Washington who is requesting that county commissioners consider removing plastic recycling to save money. According to the supervisor, plastic recycling costs the rural Southeast Washington county over $15,000 annually.
