Online registration is now open for the National Association of Information Destruction's Australia-New Zealand conference. The one-day event will be held Feb. 19, in Sydney, and will cover data security and IT asset disposal best practices in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

In Lagos, Nigeria, the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency has impounded four containers of used electronics, reports Vanguard. "Importers cannot use Nigeria as a dumping ground," Eunice Eze, the Lagos State coordinator of the agency, told the paper, noting that the containers would be sent back to their country of origin.

Manchester, England-based lamp recycling company Mercury Recycling Ltd. has filed a complaint with the country's Office of Fair Trading, claiming that Recolight, the manufacturer-funded lamp stewardship organization, is engaging in anti-competitive practices, reports GreenWise.
