The City of San Antonio is seeking proposals from processors of single-stream recyclables. The Lone Star city collects the materials and wants to contract with a processing firm. Proposals are due in late January.

Nendo, a Tokyo-based design firm has partnered with Coca-Cola to release a new line of tableware made from recycled glass soda bottles called Bottleware. The five-piece collection of dishes and serving bowls is handcrafted by glass blowers in the Aomori prefecture from Coca-Cola bottles. Via Mother Nature Network.

A man wielding a "spear gun" robbed a recycling center run by SARCAN in Kamsack, Saskatchewan on Saturday, reports CVT News. After getting away with an undisclosed amount of money, law enforcement later caught up with him and he now faces a litany of charges.

There is an upcoming feature-length documentary called "Landfill Harmonic" about, according to the filmmakers, a "remarkable musical orchestra in Paraguay, where young musicians play instruments made from trash."
