In the wake of the terrible devastation of super storm Sandy, the thoughts of the entire Resource Recycling, Inc. staff are with those affected on the East coast. The Great Lakes have higher concentrations of plastic waste than any other body of water, according to a study from the State University of New York. The vast majority of plastic recovered over the study's 21 samples were micro-plastic particles either floating or suspended in the water.

Plastics recycling firm InterGroup International will be moving into a larger, 147,000-square-foot facility, following the purchase of a 33-acre property in Jackson, Ohio. InterGroup is expected to hire approximately 50 workers by the end of next year.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it. Israeli company Applied CleanTech has developed a technology to process human waste into a feedstock that can be used in the manufacture of plastics.
